A L'Est D'Eden, film de 1955 d'Elia Kazan avec James Dean. Au début du film, il y a un plan fixe de la mer avec une musique dessus et le mot ouverture écrit. Il n'y a même pas de générique qui défile. Puis le film commence. A l'époque c'était courant ce genre de chose à ce qu'on m'a dit. C'était la première fois que je voyais un film avec James Dean. Il crève l'écran, on ne voit que lui dans le film. Il a une telle intensité de jeu. Elia Kazan est celui qui a inventé l'acteur studio d'où de nombreux acteurs d'Hollywood sortiront. C'est inspiré du livre de John Steinbeck, auteur que j'apprécie beaucoup. Steinbeck était scénariste sur le film. C'est l'histoire Aaron et Caleb deux frères vivant avec leur père Adam dans la ferme. On est en 1917 juste avant l'entrée des USA dans la 1 ère Guerre Mondiale. Les deux fils pensent que leur mère est morte. Caleb joué par James Dean est un ado incompris, il pense que son père ne l'aime pas. Quant à Adam il a tout pour lui une petit amie Abra, c'est le fils aimé d'Adam. Caleb découvre que leur mère est bien vivante et qu'elle tient une maison close. Il va la voir. Elle lui ressemble, Il est le mal. Son père fait faillite en voulant envoyer à travers le pays des salades dans de la glace. Ça ne marche pas, la locomotive était bloquée sur les voies. Les salades ont dégelées. Caleb pour gagner l'amour de son père veut rembourser les dettes de son père. Alors il va s'allier un gars, et ils vont planter des haricots et comme les usa vont bientôt rentrer en guerre les prix montent. Mais il a besoin d'un capital il se tourne vers la seule personne qui peut l'aider sa mère. Elle lui donne 5000 dollars après discussion. Caleb arrive a gagné de l'argent avec les haricots. Et ils organisent avec Abra une fête d'anniversaire pour Adam. Caleb et Abra se sont rapprochés. Le cadeau de Caleb est l'argent qui permet de rembourser les dettes. Son père refuse. Caleb, fou de rage, court annoncer à Aaron que son mère est bien vivante et qu'elle tient une maison close. Aaron va s'engager pour la Guerre. Adam tombe mal, je ne sais plus si c'est à cause de Caleb. A la fin le père meurt et Caleb et Abra finissent ensemble. J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé, c'est incroyable ! Je me rappellerais de ce film avec l'image de James Dean, les mains de les poches ou quand il est allongé dans le champs impatient de voir pousser les haricots. En mourant en 1955 à l'âge de 24 ans James Dean est devenu comme un représentant de la jeunesse de l'époque. Pour son interprétation de Caleb il sera nommé à titre posthume à l'Oscar du meilleur Acteur tout comme pour le film GéantEast of Eden, 1955 film by Elia Kazan starring James Dean. So he's going to team up with a guy, and they're going to plant beans and since the US is going to go to war soon the prices go up. But he needs a capital he turns to the only person who can help him his mother. She gives him 5000 dollars after discussion. Caleb arrives has made money with the beans. In the end the father dies and Caleb and Abra end up together. I really liked it, it's amazing! I would remember this film with the image of James Dean, his hands in his pockets or when he is lying in the field impatient to see the beans grow. By dying in 1955 at the age of 24 James Dean became like a representative of the youth of the time. For his interpretation of Caleb he will be posthumously nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor, as for the film Giant.
